Susanne Dumbleton has been a Professor at DePaul since 1996. She earned a PhD in literature and has taught writing and literature for many years. She is particularly interested in helping adults become strong writers and readers of excellent prose, and would like to make SNL a leading center of support for adult writers in the United States. Susanne was dean of the college for eleven years and returned to teaching in 2009. She was also director of writing at SNL in winter and spring 2009. During her recent leave, she researched and wrote an integrated biography of some of the most exceptional leaders of our time—Sister Helen Prejean, Wangari Maathai, and Aung San Suu Kyi. Because of this research, plus her work developing international programs with SNL faculty, she hopes to expand the opportunities for students to study complex issues of globalization and culture. She enjoys working individually with students.
