Computing (BA)

The Bachelor of Arts in Computing (BAC), offered jointly by SNL and DePaul's College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM), prepares you for a computer-related profession or graduate program in computer science.

If you have a great deal of knowledge and background in computing, you can fulfill degree requirements by documenting your experience and ongoing work projects. If you have little computing experience, all requirements can be completed as courses. In either case, the BAC offers the flexibility and individualized learning approach of SNL while focusing on the latest technology, theory and content provided by CDM.

Degree requirements are met by:

  • documenting prior experience equivalent to college-level learning
  • continuing professional education certifications
  • ongoing work experience
  • SNL proficiency exams
  • prior course work
  • SNL and CDM courses

Focus Area Concentration

Design your own focus area concentration that reflects your background and career interests or choose from 10 specialized focus area tracks offered by CDM.

Personalized

Get your own advising committee composed of an SNL faculty  member and a CDM faculty member who will  help you develop a plan to meet your goals.

Competence-based

The degree is earned after satisfying 50 requirements, written as statements describing competence. Certain competencies are met by specific courses or projects; others can be satisfied by relevant transfer courses or experience.

Online and On-Campus

You can complete all SNL requirements and many CDM requirements of the BAC degree online. You can also take courses on campus.
